Russia restricts movement across state border amid coronavirus

MOSCOW, Mar 30 (PRIME) -- Russia restricted traffic through automobile, rail, pedestrian, river, and mixed border crossings, as well as through the land of the Russian-Belarusian border, with a number of exceptions, to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the government said on Monday.

Truck drivers of international traffic, ship crews, train and locomotive crews and personnel determined by international agreements in the field of railway transport will still be allowed to pass through the state border.

Exceptions are made for Russians traveling in connection with the death of a close relative, and foreigners who have received visas in connection with the death of a close relative. The ban does not apply to Russians permanently residing in the Kaliningrad Region and following a transit train to the main part of Russia or vice versa, as well as citizens of Russia, Ukraine and stateless persons permanently residing in the territories of certain regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine, with a Russian passport.
